Bond Project Information

City staff looks forward to delivering quality projects to the Asheville community. Over the next few months staff will focus on developing project plans, schedules and communication tools. Project progress will be communicated through different tools and community meetings over the course of the next 7 years including quarterly updates to City Council.

The $74 million of bond projects are categorized by three programs of work: Parks, Housing, and Transportation. The projects within these programs supplement projects that are already in the City's Annual Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

The $17 million of parks projects support the completion of major improvements to five parks and recreation facilities; acquiring land for parks; and improving outdoor courts, playgrounds and ball field lighting throughout the to parks project information

The $25 million for housing affordability provides additional support for the Housing Trust Fund and other programs that assist in creating diverse and affordable housing choices. It also enables the City to re-purpose city-owned land for development that supports housing affordability.

The $32 million of transportation projects support the completion of road resurfacing and sidewalk improvements; new sidewalk and greenway projects; and pedestrian safety projects such as bus shelters, accessible crossings, signals, and traffic calming.
